All kinds of effects can be made with Paintshop pro. You can even make effective images and backgrounds from nothing at all, just a blank page.

This is just a quick example of what is possible:

I used these settings to create this weird effect:

New page, size 300 by 300 pixels.

Flood fill, Background and Foreground gradient Cyan-Magenta-Yellow.

Illumination effect sunburst top left, Sunburst again bottom right.

Lights, Default.
